Statement from the Director of Borderland Sciences Research Foundation

Many have emailed us over the last few days expressing scorn for our position on the EQ Pegasi signal. Comments range from severe categorisations of our foundation, to actual accusations that we work for "some unknown agency" or even "no such agency." We have been told that we are obviously an agent of mainstream science who can only see things that "fit into little boxes to be catalogued neatly & efficiently." To these people, we say, "Please take a good look at the rest of our website (http://www.borderlands.com), and then decide whether you think we are mainstream." I should think that opinions will soon change. Our foundation has been in existence since 1945 — in 1946, we were the first to break the story on flying saucers — a year before the famous Kenneth Arnold sighting. Take a look at our archives and our official publication's table of contents listing going back to 1945! (http://www.borderlands.com/archives/toc.htm) I think you will see why we have been called "fringe" science for more years than anyone in the business.

But, just because we are not mainstream, does not mean that we accept everything handed to us without question. We are a research foundation, and we conduct research — we do not merely report what we have heard from others. Our foundation usually has a tendency to get in late on stories because of this — we look before we leap (as carefully as possible). Alas, we still make mistakes. If we do, we set them aright. Our main goal is to present the unbiased truth.

Finally, we would like to say, concerning our research into the EQ Pegasi Signal, is that in our reporting of it, we have been consistent throughout. We have not altered our stand on this, because we have not received anything that would indicate it was real. Look at all the material we have presented, and by all means, decide for yourself. And, if you find anything wrong with what we have reported or presented, please let us know.

Thank you.
